I didn’t realise that this had been bugging Fiona for so long. OK, pink walls and carpets is not the best combination, but you get used to it don’t you? Apparently that is a male thing! With more time on my hands, we ripped out the old carpet and called in a painter to reach bits that Fiona would otherwise have to stand on my shoulders to paint! Fiona chose the wall colour and we agreed on a matching carpet. You see the post-painting in the following picture, before the carpets went in.
Putting the carpets in was a non-trivial exercise. In addition to the landing, the majority of installation comprised the stairs that you can see in the following picture (stair ends were the time-consuming portion to this work) as well as the 2 sets of stairs to the basement. You’ll see that the baseboards are out and I am in the process of replacing these as well as stripping and painting the vents (the gaping holes in the walls). Over the next weeks we will sort out the wall dressings and furniture.
and finally, here it is finished (with a few Matthews thrown in for the bargain!).
